My daughter read my short story - the one I finished last Thursday and carefully proofread before submitting – and she found a typo. Just one. Problem is, it’s the fifth word of the story.
They’re always there somewhere. It’s just a matter of finding a good method and a few sets of extras eyes to help find them. It looks like you’re in good hands.
Well, it’s true I did have an extra set of eyes for this story, but unfortunately I’m not sure I can get her to read every story of mine.
A real good tip I learned about proofreading:
Print a copy in an obscure font that you are not used to looking at. It forces your mind to actually look at they words closer than you normally would have. It’s amazing how many mistakes will leap off the page when exposed by a goofy font.
