First of all, Happy New Year to everyone who reads my blog! I hope 2009 brings happiness, pleasure and success.
Secondly: I’ve been tagged by Erica Naone to participate in a seven-degrees-of-separation internet challenge, and I’ve accepted. What it means is that I have to come up with seven things about myself and publish them here on this blog for the world to read (well okay, not the world) and then I have to tag seven other bloggers with the same challenge. So here goes:
1. I don’t like cold and snow. I once lived in a place where winter was a lot fiercer than it is here in PA, but that was a long time ago. I couldn’t do that again.
2. I take pictures of cakes. Whether they’re of the home-made or the bakery-bought variety, if they’re cute or original or even just nicely decorated, I take their picture. Sometimes I take multiple pictures of the same cake. Seriously. I could fill an album with the cake pictures that I took over the years.
3. I don’t watch a lot of TV, but when I do, I usually put on the Disney channel, where the raunchy revolution never happened and the family sitcom still rules the day. I like to watch kid-shows like The Wizards of Waverly Place, Cory in the House, The Suite Life, and even Hannah Montana. My husband is trying to rehabilitate me by forcing me to watch House marathons.
4. I often get distracted during simple numbering tasks, and end up numbering wrong. For example, I had to go back and add #4 to this list.
5. I have another blog that no one reads, yet I update it consistently. So allow me the opportunity to shamelessly link to it now.
6. I like to scrapbook. Then I photograph my scrapbook pages and upload them with all my other, regular photographs to three different photo storage websites. This is to keep them safe in the event of fire or flood or tornado or vandalism. Which are things I worry about.
7. I try not to be too introspective. Yes, you read that right. I doubt that many “true” things about the self can be learned that way, and for me, introspection is the shortest road to self-absorbtion, and then to self-pity.
So there you have it, my list of seven. Now I’ll tag seven others with the same challenge, and we’ll see what happens:
3. Alex Moore
4. A. Fulkerson
7. Eliza Wyatt
I hope you’re all feeling up to the challenge

Thanks for accepting the tag! Interesting to find out about the other blog. That is one amazing Gingerbread house… Good luck in 2009, and happy writing!
I didn’t know you had a review blog! And I’ve learned something else about you – you like reading Patricia McKillup, one of my favourite authors!
Thanks for the tag, my first meme of the year
[...] by Merrilee Faber on January 2, 2009 Diane tagged me (on Jan 1st, no less) with the 7° meme. I was fascinated to find out that she likes to [...]
Erica: It was fun making the list. Thanks again for the tag.
Merrilee: The other blog started b/c I wanted to experiment with blogspot, though at the time I didn’t know what I was going to do with it. It was kind of non-writing/miscellaneous. And yes, I really like Patricia McKillip’s books. I’m reading The Bell at Sealey Head right now, and then I have a few others here to read later on. Do you have a favorite?
The Riddlemaster series. I still get goosebumps when I read those books. McKillup is a master of high fantasy.
I have that one! I also have Cygnet and Od Magic, which I thought I’d read next. I can get Ombria in Shadow from the library, so I won’t have to buy it. I love the cover art on most of her books. There are also several other books (not by McKillip) that I want to read in the upcoming months, not in any particular order.
hey you! what a surprise to be tagged. I enjoyed learning so much about you! I hate the cold too…will complete soon. promise
i’m wondering if you wouldn’t get more commenters if you didn’t have “must be logged in” to comment checked. I had to create a wordpress account just so i could comment on your blog. (How many people would actually take the time to do that? i’m weird, i know — but think of how many comment-leavers you might have then…) Open ID would allow me to use my blogger account. Anyway, just a thought.
Have a delightful new year!
Alex: Thanks for the tip. I changed the comments settings, so it should be easier now.
